SERPENTINE DRIVE BELT, REPLACE
Under no circumstances should accessory drive belt, tensioner or pulleys be lubricated as potential damage to drive belt material and tensioner damping mechanism will occur. Do not apply any fluids or belt dressing to accessory drive belt or pulleys.
Only rotate engine crankshaft clockwise or damage to engine can occur.
1.Raise and support vehicle.
2.Remove accessory drive belt splash shield, Fig. 1.
3.Cut and discard accessory drive belt using a suitable tool, Fig. 2.
4.Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a.Remove and discard bolt. Install stud bolt supplied with new accessory drive belt, Fig. 3.
b.Rotate crankshaft clockwise until designated hole in crankshaft pulley is at 150° position (5 o clock), Fig. 4.
c.Install tools supplied with new accessory drive belt and install nut finger tight, Fig. 5.
d.Position accessory drive belt onto coolant pump, alternator and idler pulleys, Fig. 6.
e.Rotate crankshaft clockwise one full turn, using a suitable tool, Fig. 7.
f.Remove nut and special tools. Leave stud bolt installed.
g.Verify accessory drive belt is correctly seated on all pulleys, Fig. 8.
h.Position accessory drive belt splash shield and install two bolts.
i.Torque splash shield bolts to 80 inch lbs.
j.Torque stud bolt to 80 inch lbs.
