Hola, comparto manual para reemplazo cadena de tiempo Chevrolet Malibu 3.5L 2004/2010
TIMING CHAIN, REPLACE
Caution: With the timing chain removed, avoid turning the camshaft or crankshaft. If movement is required, exercise extreme caution to avoid valve damage caused by piston contact.
1.Disconnect and isolate battery ground cable.
2.Drain engine oil into suitable container.
3.Remove oil filter.
4.Drain cooling system into suitable container.
5.Remove drive belt.
6.Remove mounting bolt and tensioner.
7.Raise and support vehicle with jack stands.
8.Remove oil pan as follows:
a.Remove engine mount strut to radiator support mounting bolts.
b.Remove engine mount strut to bracket mounting bolts and nuts.
c.Remove engine mount strut.
d.Support engine using engine support fixture GM tool No. J-28467-B, or equivalent.
e.Remove mounting bolts, then the exhaust manifold and crossover pipe heat shields.
f.Remove exhaust crossover pipe to righthand exhaust manifold mounting nuts.
g.Remove exhaust manifold upper mounting bolts.
h.Remove upper catalytic converter to exhaust manifold mounting nut.
i.Disconnect electrical connectors and remove HO2Ss.
j.Remove catalytic converter to muffler mounting nuts and insulators.
k.Remove catalytic converter lower mounting nut and position muffler aside.
l.Remove catalytic converter and gasket.
m.Remove flywheel inspection cover.
n.Remove starter electrical connectors.
o.Remove mounting bolts and starter.
p.Remove front mounting bolt and nut, then the rear mounting bolt and position air conditioning compressor aside.
q.Disconnect oil level sensor electrical connector.
r.Remove engine harness clips from oil pan and transmission brace.
s.Remove mounting bolts and front transmission brace.
t.Remove engine mounting lower nuts and loosen transmission mount lower nuts.
u.Remove rear transmission brace to engine/oil pan bolts.
v.Lower vehicle and raise engine.
w.Hold steering column using steering column anti-rotation pin GM tool No. J-42640, or equivalent.
x.Remove steering shaft intermediate lower pinch bolt.
y.Remove mounting bolts, engine mount and bracket.
z.Remove righthand lower ball joint from steering knuckle using ball joint/stud separator GM tool No. J-41820, or equivalent.
aa.Remove righthand outer tie rod from steering knuckle using ball joint/stud separator GM tool No. J-41820, or equivalent.
ab.Remove mounting bolt and nut, then the righthand stabilizer link.
ac.Support frame using suitable jack stands.
ad.Loosen lefthand bolts, then remove righthand bolts and lower righthand side of frame.
ae.Remove mounting bolts, oil pan and gasket.
9.Remove torque converter covers, and hold flywheel in place using flywheel holder GM tool No. J-37096, or equivalent.
10.Remove crankshaft balancer bolt and washer.
11.Remove crankshaft balancer with harmonic balancer remover GM tool No. J-41816 and puller end protector GM tool No. EN46359, or equivalents. Caution: Do not use power-assisted tool to remove balancer.
12.Disconnect connector, then remove mounting bolt crankshaft position actuator magnet.
13.Remove thermostat housing.
14.Remove mounting bolts and water pump pulley.
15.Remove mounting bolts, water pump and gasket.
16.Remove mounting bolts, front cover and gasket.
17.Align timing marks, Fig. 1.
18.Remove camshaft gear mounting bolt.
19.Remove timing chain, camshaft and gear.
20.Remove mounting bolts and chain tensioner.
21.Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a.Apply suitable pre-lube to crankshaft gear thrust surface.
b.Install tensioner and tighten mounting bolts.
c.Collapse tensioner using tensioner clamping GM tool No. EN-47719, or equivalent, and install suitable pin in retaining hole.
d.Align timing marks, Fig. 1.
e.Hold camshaft gear with chain hanging down and install chain to crankshaft gear.
f.Align camshaft gear timing marks and dowel with camshaft gear dowel hole.
g.Draw camshaft gear onto camshaft by tightening mounting bolt.
h.Coat crankshaft and camshaft gears with suitable, clean engine oil.
i.Torque front cover bolts to 18 ft. lbs.
j.Crankshaft balancer bolt to 118 ft. lbs.
k.Install accessory drive belt.
l.Inspect cooling system and fill to proper level with recommended coolant, as required.
m.Fill engine crankcase to proper level with recommended engine oil.
n.Connect battery ground cable.
o.Start engine and confirm proper operation, and ensure there are no leaks.
p.Clear DTC(s) using a suitably programmed scan tool.
