(instrucciones en ingles)
Engine cover gasket replacement – 2007, 2.0 TFSI, UK, BWA
1. Remove the air filter cover, and use a damp cloth / compressed air to remove as much dirt / muck / dust as possible before to you start the job.

2. Remove the coils and move the loom to the back of the engine. Next remove the three tubes at the front of the engine, and then the two tubes at the back

3. Have a last wipe round with a clean damp cloth

4. Unscrew the two cam cover bolts. Note these are different from the gasket bolts. Pull the cover to the left slightly to give you room to lift the cover out

5. Crack off the screws in reverse order to that shown in FOTO , i.e. start with bolt 14 and work backwards.

6. Next repeat the same process and unscrew all the bolts. Keep going until you feel some resistance and do 2 – 3 more turns, that way the bolt is out of the head so you can lift the cover off

7. Lift the cover out, you might need to push the rear hoses off as well at this point

8. If the cover is stuck try a very light tap with a rubber hammer. if its still stuck double check the bolts are all the way out of the head

9. Clean the metal engine surface, . Remove the old gasket and clean up the slot the gasket slots into

10. Check the cover is true / not bent / delaminated /cracked etc.

11. When fitting the new gasket, push the bolt through the cover so the gasket can seat properly. This helps keep the gasket in place when you are refitting it see

12. Push the cam cover to the left to allow room to refit the cover. Re-fit at a slight angle so the rear hoses can be connected

13. Once home, push each bolt into its hole by hand. start each bolt in order by hand as well in the order in FOTO

14. Repeat the process so the bolts are hand tight. Again, follow the order in FOTO

15. Torque to 10mn in the same order. connect all hoses / tubes / 2 cam cover bolts

16. Check all work and replace air filter housing
