REMOVAL
1.Relieve fuel system pressure as follows:
a.Remove rear seat cushion, then fuel pump service cover.
b.Disconnect fuel pump electrical connector.
c.Start and run engine until it stalls.
d.Turn ignition switch to LOCK position.
2.Drain engine coolant into a suitable container, then remove washer tank.
3.Remove righthand front wheel, then righthand engine under cover.
4.Release tensioner and remove drive belt, Fig. 1.
5.Remove mounting bolts and alternator.
6.Disconnect power steering oil pressure switch connector.
7.Remove power steering pulley bolt and pulley, using a holding tool Nos. 09960-10010, 09962-01000 and 09963-01000 or equivalent.
8.Remove power steering pump and reposition aside.
9.Place jack under engine. Caution: Place a wooden block between jack and engine.
10.On models equipped with A/C,remove bolt attaching A/C piping clamp to righthand engine mounting insulator.
11.On all models, remove bolts, nuts, then righthand engine mounting insulator.
12.Disconnect high-tension cords from clamp on cylinder head cover, then cords from spark plugs.
13.Disconnect two PCV hoses from cylinder head cover.
14.Remove attaching nuts, then bolt and wire harness protector cover.
15.Remove attaching bolts, then seal washers and nuts.
16.Remove cable bracket, then cylinder head cover and gasket.
17.Set No. 1 cylinder to TDC of compression stroke by rotating crankshaft pulley as required to align pulley groove with "0" timing mark, Fig. 2.
18.Ensure that point mark of camshaft timing sprockets are in straight line on timing chain cover surface, Fig. 3.
19.Remove pulley bolt, using crankshaft pulley holder tool Nos. 09213-70010, 09330-00021 or equivalents.
20.Remove crankshaft pulley, using crankshaft remover tool Nos. 09950-50011, 09951-05010, 09952-05010, 09953-05020 and 09954-05020 or equivalents.
21.Remove crankshaft position sensor, then drive belt tensioner.
22.Remove righthand engine mounting bracket.
23.Remove chain tensioner, then water pump.
24.Remove timing chain cover retaining bolts, then nuts.
25.Remove stud bolt, using a Torx wrench socket (E8) or equivalent.
26.Remove timing chain cover by prying portions between cylinder head and cylinder block. Caution: Ensure not to damage contact surface of timing chain cover, cylinder head and cylinder block.
27.Remove crank angle sensor plate, then chain tensioner slipper.
28.Remove timing chain and crankshaft timing sprocket.
29.Remove chain vibration damper, then camshaft timing sprockets.

INSTALLATION
1.Install camshaft timing sprockets.
2.Align point marks of camshaft timing sprockets, Fig. 4.
3.Turn crankshaft and set key facing upward, using a crankshaft pulley bolt.
4.Install chain vibration damper.
5.Install timing chain on crankshaft timing sprocket with No. 1 mark link aligned with mark on crankshaft timing sprocket, using installation tool No. 09223-22010 or equivalent, Fig. 5.
6.Install timing chain on camshaft timing sprocket with No. 53 and No. 67 mark links aligned with timing marks on camshaft timing sprockets, Fig. 6.
7.Install chain tensioner slipper. Caution: Do not turn crankshaft.
8.Install crank angle sensor plate, with "F" mark facing forward.
9.Apply sealant part No. 08826-00100 or equivalent to timing chain cover, Fig. 7. Install a nozzle that has been cut to a .16-.02 inch opening.
10.Apply sealant part No. 08826-00080 or equivalent to two locations, Fig. 8. Install a nozzle that has been cut to a .16-.02 inch opening.
11.Install timing chain cover, O-ring and water pump. Tighten bolts as follows:
a.Torque 10 mm C bolts to 80 inch lbs.
b.Torque 10 mm A bolts to 10 ft. lbs.
c.Torque remaining 10 mm bolts to 96 inch lbs.
d.Torque 12 mm bolts to 14 ft. lbs., as outlined in Fig. 9.
12.Install stud bolt, using a Torx wrench socket or equivalent.
13.Apply sealant part No. 08826-00080 or equivalent to threads of bolts, then install righthand engine mounting bracket.
14.Install drive belt tensioner.
15.Install crankshaft position sensor.
16.Align crankshaft pulley set key with key groove of pulley and slide on pulley.
17.Install pulley bolt and torque to 86 ft. lbs., using holding tool Nos. 09213-70010 and 09330-00021 or equivalent.
18.Install chain tensioner as follows:
a.Release ratchet pawl, fully push in plunger and apply hook to pin so that plunger cannot spring out.
b.Insert O-ring by hand until it reaches to chamfering position, then install nut temporally.
c.By tightening nut, insert chain tensioner to installation position, then tighten nuts.
19.Rotate crankshaft clockwise and disconnect plunger knock pin from hook, then ensure that slipper is pushed by plunger.
20.Rotate crankshaft pulley and align its groove with timing mark "0" of timing chain cover.
21.Ensure that point marks of timing sprocket are in straight line on timing chain cover surface, Fig. 3.
22.Apply sealant part No. 08826-00080 or equivalent to proper location, Fig. 10.
23.Install gasket to cylinder head cover.
24.Install cylinder head cover, then cable bracket with bolts, sea washers and nuts.
25.Uniformly tighten bolts and nuts using sequence outlined in Fig. 11. Torque with washers to 96 inch lbs.; less washers to 80 inch lbs.
26.Install wire harness protector cover, then PCV hoses to cylinder head cover.
27.Connect high-tension cords to spark plugs, then to clamp on cylinder head cover.
28.Install righthand engine mounting insulator. Tighten bolts and nuts as follows:
a.Torque A bolts to 47 ft. lbs.
b.Torque B bolts to 19 ft. lbs.
c.Torque nuts to 38 ft. lbs.
29.On models equipped with A/C,install bolt attaching A/C piping clamp to righthand engine mounting insulator.
30.On all models, install power steering pump and tighten to specification.
31.Install power steering pulley nut and tighten to specification, using a holding tool Nos. 09960-10010, 09962-01000 and 09963-01000 or equivalent.
32.Connect power steering switch electrical connector.
33.Install alternator.
34.Release tensioner and install drive belt, then righthand engine undercover.
35.Install righthand front wheel, then washer tank.
36.Fill engine with coolant, then start engine and inspect for coolant leaks.
